It's admirable you tried a different take on "Tired" Ted.
Liked your guitar and voice. The thing that jumped out to me was the "jaunty" feel....which I don't think is a good fit with the lyric.
If the song was "I'm So Awake" it might work!

Hey Ken, thanks...you know I'm working on my goals for 2010...I jammed with an acoustic class and the leader gave me an old Blurgrass song called Blackberry Blossom...it has no lyrics only the melody played on individual strings. I said I wanted to learn chord melody so it will be a challenge. I have all year so I hope in that amount of time I can actually do it. Slow going so far.

9ne, thanks for the encouragement. I don't ever seem to get the melody or vibe quite the same when I do covers. I think I'm deaf in one ear...and can't hear out of the other. Thanks for the compliment on the vocal and guitar.

On youtube I have been watching the Beatles Anthology...I'm up to part 4 out of 9...didn't realize how long it was...McCartney just finished Yesterday...I may have watched this back when it was first released but forgotten...great entertainment...long way to go til I finish listening but I'm committed now...don't know how Youtube gets to do this for free...maybe they don't and somebody gets paid.

Well the learning is in listening to the 3 guitars and picking out each guitars voice...never really studied songs like that and since I now have interest I look for different things than I would have before. Also saw McCartney play Elanor Rigby solo on an acoustic...that was inspiring and really something I can, to some degree, pull off....4-5 chords and they repeat in a short 2 minute song but the melody is so good that two mins is all they need....they have a lot of those Two minute winners.

Beware, it is long and will take a while...just now getting to the Revolver era.

Just finished the Anthology...it was very good...really enjoyed...I like that it was the boys themselves telling the story instead of a narrator. Can't believe how long ago it was and it seemes like it was just Yesterday when all my troubles seemed so far away...

I don't know if there is a song I like better than Eleanor Rigby. There are some I may like as much, but none better. I even remember the exact moment I heard it.

I was 11 years old, getting ready to eat a hamburger and fries in a PX in Darmstadt, Germany. I stood there with the tray in my hands, gazing out the huge, patio style glass doors, over looking a play area on a sunny day. That song had me transfixed with its beauty and I felt strangely sad. When the song finished playing, the radio DJ announced, "That was the new record by the Beatles, 'Eleanor Rigby.'"

The next song was a huge hit already, "These Boots Are Made for Walking," and I found a table to sit down and eat my burger and fries while I waited for my mother. My father was killed a few weeks later when his car was hit by a truck. "Eleanor Rigby" played over and over in my mind the morning my mother woke us up to deliver us the tragic news. It was September 1, 1966, his mother's birthday.

None of the Beatles play an instrument on their version. Ted goes solo on his version. I've tried to learn those chords on keyboard for practice. I was singing the song itself this morning. I never tried to combine the two together.
